Winter Futsal League

Coach and Manager Registration Requirements

Player Safety Initiatives — Protecting Young Athletes

US Youth Futsal is committed to creating safe and respectful sporting environments free of abuse and harassment for our youth athletes. As a member of US Soccer, we have an obligation to ensure that every adult coach and manager that is in direct contact with children completes a background check and the required SafeSport training.

We are excited to announce that we have created a new tool in HTG to make this an efficient process for our league and program operations. If you are a coach or manager participating in the FutsalRVA winter League, please see information below to complete these steps.

BACKGROUND CHECK REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

The USYF background check process has two parts:

1. SafeSport - must be completed prior to background check registration

To enroll in the free course, please the link below to begin your SafeSport training.

Complete information on “Sign Up” page

  • If prompted, log in to the new account you just created

  • Click on “Menu” and select “Catalog"

  • Click the Start button for “SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation” to complete the course

  • Upload your certificate of completion

You can take the 90-minute course all at once, or over a period of time as SafeSport will save your progress.

Once the SafeSport 3 modules are completed, you will have earned a master “SafeSport Trained” certificate. Please download this and save as USYF will require you to upload your certificate in your HTG background check registration.

If you have completed the SafeSport course as part of another background check process, you may upload the certificate you received at that time. You can always log into your Safe Sport account and download your most recent certificate www.safesport.org.

2. Background Check

The link to FutsalRVA's background check registration:

Coaches/team managers should only register and pay ($10) for one background check regardless of the number of futsal teams they coach/manage. Please note, the background check issued through your outdoor organization is not valid for futsal. The U.S. Youth Futsal Background Check’s comprehensive Nationwide Criminal Search reviews over 500 million records from over a thousand different databases. In addition, there is a jurisdictional search of the court records of the more than 3,347 counties in the USA for felonies and misdemeanors as well as criminal traffic offenses. FBI, Interpol and other databases are also searched.

Additionally, United States Youth Futsal has adopted a new Inclusion Policy to be consistent with the language in the US Soccer Bylaws. Please copy and paste this information into your USYF league, tournament, affiliate, academy, or sanctioned event rules and/or policies that you have posted and remove any language that is contrary to what is below.

US Youth Futsal Inclusion Policy

(A) Membership of US Youth Futsal is open to all futsal and soccer organizations and all futsal and soccer players, coaches, trainers, managers, administrators and officials without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or national origin.

(B) For the purposes of registration on gender-based teams, a player may register with the gender team with which the player identifies, and confirmation sufficient for guaranteeing access shall be satisfied by documentation or evidence that shows the stated gender is sincerely held, and part of a person’s core identity. Documentation satisfying the herein stated standard includes, but is not limited to, government-issued documentation or documentation prepared by a health care provider, counselor, or other qualified professional not related to the player.

(C) US Youth Futsal recognizes 2 team gender classifications:
